You’ve heard of London’s West End and New York’s Broadway – well this is Dublin City’s answer! Located in the heart of Grand Canal Square, the Bord Gais Energy Theatre opened its doors in 2010 following the demand for a suitable theatre to show global productions and since then over half a million people have visited the Bord Gais every year.

The Rocky Horror Show – 1st to 6th July
Richard O’Brien’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll musical returns to the Bord Gais as part of a global tour, having now been seen by over 30 million theatregoers. Attendees of this rude and wacky show will be expected to sing along to Sweet Transvestite and Damn it Janet and to dance along to Time Warp.

Annie – 9th to 20th July
Direct from London’s West End, this production of Annie is coming to the Bord Gais for two weeks. Ms Hannigan is being played by the sensational Jodie Prenger following her winning of the BBC’s I’d Do Anything and performances in Oliver, Spamalot and Calamity Jane. With its Tony award-winning score book, theatre goers will hear the unforgettable songs such as Hard Knock Life and Tomorrow.

Club Tropicana – 30th July to 3rd August
Born from the producers of the hit UK and Ireland tour of Hairspray, Club Tropicana will take you back to the summer of love celebrating 80s music, fashion and culture. Starring X Factor winner Joe McElderry and a host of familiar faces, Club Tropicana is “the 80s answer to Love Island” – it tells the story of a young engaged couple seeking warmth for their cold feet.
The soundtrack includes 80s chart toppers such as Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Making Your Mind Up, Take On Me and many many more. Tickets start from €18.50 with group discounts available.
The Bodyguard – 7th to 17th August
Alexandra Burke returns to the role of Rachel Marron in this international, award-winning musical based on the smash-hit film of the same title. This show has it all: suspense, romance and drama as we witness a story full of twists and turns surrounding a stalker.

Kinky Boots – 19th to 31st August
Coined as “London’s hottest musical”, Kinky Boots is making its way to Dublin for the first time! The glitzy musical features music by Cyndi Lauper and direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell and shares a feel-good story starting on a North Hampton factory floor and finishing on the catwalks of Milan.

Cabaret – 1st to 5th October
Directed by National Theatre Artistic Director Rufus Norris, the production has been a huge success since it’s Broadway premiere 2 years running and the movie version with Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey. Cabaret has won numerous awards including 8 Oscars, and 7 BAFTAs. This show stopper production is not one to be missed! Tickets from €20
St Petersburg Ballet Theatre Swan Lake 22nd – 26th October
Following the sold-out shows London, Spain, Germany & many more St Petersburg Ballet Theatre of Swan Lake brigs the magnificence and beauty to Dublin accompanied by the RTE Concert Orchestra. Swan Lake is the world’s, the most loved ballet and St Petersburg Ballet Theatre will perform this beautiful masterpiece through the world of dance. Swan Lake is definitely a must-see and is highly recommended to see at least once in your life.
