Bord Gais Energy Theatre
With the Bord Gais Energy Theatre just opposite the hotel, an overnight stay at Clayton Hotel Cardiff Lane is the perfect encore to any evening. The theatre raised its curtains in 2010 with a Russian Ballet performance. Since then, it continues to host theatrical productions from London and New York that were previously impossible to host. Over the years, it’s been host to many iconic shows. These include Wicked, Elf, Mary Poppins, The Lion King, Dirty Dancing and Phantom of The Opera. Entertaining half a million guests a year, it’s truly spectacular venue and fantastic additional to the art and cultural heritage of Dublin city.
The ornate doors of The Olympia Theatre have been open for over 130 years and continue to welcome theatre and concert goes from all over the world. Located on Dame Street in central Dublin a short stroll from Temple Bar. Some of the biggest names in theatre have performed on the stage including Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy and in recent years Adele, The Script and Kaiser Chiefs.
The 3Arena is a stunning, state of the art entertainment venue with phenomenal acoustics, located just 15 minutes’ walk from the hotel. This concert venue has the capacity to hold 14,500 people at any given time. A favourite venue of many international acts, the first event to take place was the inaugural Childline concert in 2008. Formally known as the Point Depot or O2 Arena, this is one of the finest arenas in Europe for concerts.
The Aviva Stadium has an unusual curvilinear shape and can accommodate over 50,000 people. Previously known as Lansdowne Road, it’s home to the Irish Football and Rugby Union. It reopened as the Aviva stadium in May 2010. Some of the iconic concerts that have taken place include ACDC, Rhianna and Robbie Williams.
With the capacity to hold over 80,000 people, Croke Park has hosted a number of major international bands and musicians over the years including U2, One Direction, Take That, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and many more.
